Online donations in Australian
Just for a bit of fun, we decided to embark on Australia’s 1st research into charity website donations. Below is a list of the charity websites that we analysed as part of our Australian Website Donation Pages Research.
What the research looks like
We wanted to know what type of web/ mobile site donation page converted the best. Our search for this information taught us that there is no Australian research about website donations and the donor experience. So we decided to fill the knowledge gap
Phase 1: Benchmark website donation experience & conversion
We made a $10 donation to 100 charities and compared the experience across 59 points of criteria.
Phase 2: Collect donor insights
We surveyed Australian donors who said they give online and we asked them what they want and expect when making an online donation.
All charities included in the research were invited to submit their website donation page conversion data (unfortunately we only had submissions from 8 organisations).
Phase 3: Interview donors
From the pool of donors who responded to the survey, we conducted 10 one-on-one interviews where we recorded donors making a donation to one of 6 pre-selected charities. We then interviewed them about their experience.
We started Phase 1 in November 2015 and the research was released on 8th September 2016 at the Fundraising Forum.
